ACP readers love a royal wedding

April 13

ACP Magazines is pulling out all the stops to meet 3.762 million* readers’ voracious demand for information, pictures and keepsakes of the upcoming royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton.

Special editions of Woman’s Day, GRAZIA and OK! will be released from Sunday, 1 May – a first for these weekly titles, which usually publish on Monday or Friday.

Woman’s Day, GRAZIA and OK!’s editorial teams – supported by their ACP production, IT, printing and distribution colleagues – will work flat-out over a 36-hour period to collate all the news and images of the big event (which takes place on the night of Friday, 29 April, Australian time) to be on newsstands by Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, The Australian Women’s Weekly continues its 78-year tradition of covering key milestones in British royalty and will work through the night to bring out a collectors’ edition, on sale from Wednesday, 4 May.

The Australian Women’s Weekly will also publish a special 100-plus page souvenir magazine of the royal wedding later that month.

Woman’s Day – which has a collectors’ special, William & Kate: The Royal Wedding picture tribute on the stands now – will also publish a companion wedding day special on premium glossy stock, which will be on sale in mid-May.

ACP Magazines Managing Director Phil Scott said: “The world will be watching when Prince William and Catherine Middleton marry, and we will bring our readers every beautiful image and interesting detail.

“These special Woman’s Day, GRAZIA, OK! and The Australian Women’s Weekly issues represent a significant investment in editorial, production, distribution and marketing resources. They demonstrate ACP’s commitment to our readers who want and expect to know everything about the wedding of England’s future king and queen.”

Mr Scott added that readers had already embraced Woman’s Day’s wedding preview, William & Kate: The Royal Wedding, released just last week, with sales of this one-shot tribute exceeding expectations.

Woman’s Day’s team of royal experts, including royal biographers Judy Wade, Robert Jobson and Katie Nicholl, will cover the historic event for Woman’s Day’s bumper royal wedding issue – a true memento for all royal enthusiasts.

Woman’s Day Editor Fiona Connolly said: “Everyone loves a wedding, but nothing beats a royal wedding. We’re so excited about covering this momentous event, we’ll be working through the night so our readers can have their keepsake within a day of the ceremony.

“And with Woman’s Day’s experienced royal reporters relaying all the colour and excitement from inside the church, readers couldn’t get any closer to the action.

“Woman’s Day has been the trusted royal magazine for Australian women for more than 60 years. We’re treating this wedding like it’s our own to ensure readers can enjoy their full-colour glossy wedding album over their Sunday morning breakfast.”

In the lead-up to the big event, Woman’s Day has also created a series of 16-page royal special pull-out mini-magazines featuring past royal weddings, including that of William’s parents, Prince Charles and Diana, as well as our own commoner-turned-princess, Mary Donaldson, to HRH Prince Frederick of Denmark.

The team at GRAZIA – Australia’s only weekly fashion magazine – is also hard at work preparing for the wedding of the decade.

GRAZIA Editor Kellie Hush said: “To be Australia’s first fashion glossy on the newsstand with royal wedding coverage is an exciting opportunity for GRAZIA. We will have people on the ground in London filing every detail and an office full of die-hard royal fans working relentlessly to get this special issue into readers’ hands by Sunday.

“This is the biggest fashion event of the decade and GRAZIA will be focused on the who, what and ‘wear’. Ever since the engagement was announced there has been much speculation over who would win the honour of designing Catherine’s wedding gown, so readers can expect every single detail about the wedding dress in the pages of GRAZIA.

“We’ll also have the scoop on the guests and what they wore, reveal the most fashionable royals and deliver a princess-inspired fashion shoot. We’re also giving away a diamond tiara valued at $21,250!”

OK! Australia’s special Sunday issue will contain more than 30 pages of breaking royal wedding coverage, including stunning photo albums, exclusive commentary and interviews from OK! UK’s top royal correspondents and renowned international interviewer and friend to the royal family, Daphne Barak.

Nicole Byers, Editor of OK! Australia, said: “OK!’s huge London-based team and incomparable British roots mean we can take readers closer to the action than they ever dreamt possible. OK! will not only be talking about the royals, we will be talking to them.”

The Australian Women’s Weekly is celebrating the royal wedding with a May souvenir issue featuring all the stunning images from the momentous day – from the procession to Westminster Abbey to the magical moment when the new royal couple kiss on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

With 50 pages of coverage and a luxurious glossy cover, released in record time, this is an issue not to be missed. In fact, royal wedding editions of The Weekly are a traditional favourite souvenir item with many copies sold as keepsakes and gifts for family and friends both here and abroad.

The Australian Women’s Weekly Editor-In-Chief Helen McCabe said: ‘This will be the ultimate fairytale wedding. It is a beautiful and uplifting love story between two young people who will devote their lives to serving others. We will be working around the clock to select the stories and pictures that best reflect this historic occasion.”

The Australian Women’s Weekly will also present a souvenir book profiling all the magical moments of the wedding day, plus a look back at how Prince William is following in the footsteps of his late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.

With more than 100 pages of stunning photographs and special features on Diana and other royal weddings, this will be a timely keepsake of the occasion, or a perfect gift, on sale from Friday, 20 May.
